Historical roots of the present

German-Israeli youth- exchange-project

Between youngsters from the State of Sachsen-Anhalt and the city of Herzliya

Exchange in Israel: 30.03-08.04.2012

These youth-exchange-projects runs for more than ten years continuously, every year in Germany and Israel.

The majority of this year's participants prefer spring time for being in Israel. Most of the youngsters would prefer to prolong the exchange for one or two days. The participants enjoyed the first common day in Nahsholim. It enabled them to get acquainted and used again to one another anew and to pick up relation- and friendships at the point they left them off in Germany. The reception in the host families in Herzliya was very warm and open hearted. The barbecue evening in the garden of the house of Pazit Tabak, one of the heads of the Israeli delegation, was very great. Very good was the day with host families and the common free time, inclusive being on the beach. That were the times and places to get into deep conversation and to get to know each other, daily and family life in Israel inside out. It was important to see the film "The flat" together. It was fun to watch the basketball game.

For the majority the visit of the Peres-Peace-Center was boring, because only general information was given there instead of deep and profound and actual information on specific peace-projects. However the tour of Jaffa and Tel Aviv was very nice, especially because the Israeli youngsters guided this part. It was interesting to be in the remains of the crusaders' castle Apolonia and on the Israeli/Lebanese border in Rosh Hanikra and also in Acre.

All in all the exchange, its program, the topics and the organization were good and very good.
